This is list intended to get us to think about what a community may need to stockpile, so the list is constantly growing.  Please feel free to suggest items. We will be soon acquiring a sea going container to stockpile much of this material.  Ideally, it would be stockpiled in different places on the community land, but since we are not on the land yet we are making due.

Food or Food Preparation

  • Food: dried beans, rice, flour, sugar, cornmeal, salt, baking power, baking soda, spices, yeast, etc…
  • Food Storage:  Crocks, Canning Jars, lids, corks, bottle caps, large boiling pots, thermometers, cheese cloth, wax, everything needed
  • Exotic Spices that will not grow here…cinnamon, vanilla,etc…
  • Sea Salt and learn how to extract it from sea water (book on hand)
  • Flour, Sugar, Salt, Baking power, yeast, (whatever can be stored for a reasonable period)
  • Cast Iron pans of all assortments.  Dutch ovens, etc…
  • Wood burning stove, with replacement parts
  • Fire, Source of illumination, flint & steel, matches, lighters, magnifying glass, Oil lamps, all extra parts including oil and wicks, Candles, wax, wicks, candle molds, etc..
  • Devices: butter churn, apple peeler, cabbage cutter, cheese press, pressure canner, cider press
  • Sanitation: anti-bacterial soaps, scrup pads, copper and stainless steel scouring pads, natural sponges
